Record-breaking recognition reflects Petron Malaysia’s Commitment to Occupational Safety and Health Practices

KUALA LUMPUR – At the recent 42nd Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) Award ceremony held on 11 November 2024 at Sunway Resort Hotel, Petron Malaysia reached a new milestone after securing a record-breaking 15 awards across its operations. Faridah Ali, General Manager of Petron Malaysia, also received the President Award for her outstanding leadership in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) performance.

Petron Malaysia received the prestigious Platinum Award for its Kuantan Terminal and the High Achiever Award for its Bagan Luar Terminal. Platinum is the highest category of the MSOSH award, which has not been awarded since 2007, while the High Achiever is awarded in recognition of excellence in detailed and transparent audited results. In total, Petron received one Platinum Award, one President Award, one High Achiever Award, five Grand Awards, two Gold Merit Awards, and five Gold Class 1 Awards at the MSOSH Award 2024.

The Company also became the first oil and gas company to be awarded the Gold Class 1 Award for four of its retail service stations under the category of The Petroleum, Gas, Petrochemical and Allied Sectors.

Faridah Ali, General Manager of Petron Malaysia said, “These awards underscore our commitment to prioritising safety and health in our daily operations, as we consistently strive for a record of zero lost-time injuries (LTI). The MSOSH award recognises 2 of our internal core values: Excellence and Safety. This win is a testament to our dedication to these values in every aspect of our operations. At Petron, we always aim to achieve greater heights in our OSH performance. The discipline instilled in our Petron Operations Integrity Management System (POIMS) has been pivotal to our success. We take pride in being the sole recipient of the Platinum award among numerous Malaysian companies assessed.”

To achieve these accolades, Petron Malaysia underwent extensive evaluation, including document reviews and site audits conducted by a panel of qualified auditors. The assessments, which took place between June and July 2024, involved a wide range of OSH experts from various sectors and covered the full-year review of 2023.
