PETRON REPORTS STRONG Q3 2025 NET PROFIT OF RM80 MILLION

KUALA LUMPUR – Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd (PMRMB) reported a significant increase in net profit for the third quarter to RM80 million from RM5 million in the same period last year. This growth was driven by sustained process optimization and higher utilization of its Port Dickson Refinery, supply chain improvements, and an increase in domestic sales amid improved regional refining cracks.

The benchmark Dated Brent crude averaged US$69 per barrel in the third quarter, showing less volatility compared to the same period last year. However, it fell 14% from its US$80 average last year due to pressures from OPEC+’s supply increase, the global economic impact of the tariff tensions, and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Europe.

The Company delivered higher sales in both its Retail and Commercial segments during the quarter. As lower prices tempered the impact of higher volume, revenues for the third quarter declined by 11% to RM3.4 billion. Nevertheless, Petron posted a gross profit of RM197 million, five times more than the same quarter of the previous year.  The improvement was driven by higher refining margins resulting from optimized refinery production that enabled the company to produce higher-value products and, thus, take advantage of better refining cracks than in the same period last year.

The resulting operating income of RM139 million was a remarkable turnaround from the RM15 million operating loss incurred last year.

For the first nine months of 2025, PMRMB sold 27.6 million barrels with revenues of RM10.3 billion. This translated into an operating income of RM306 million and a net profit of RM202 million, both more than double the results from last year.

“Amid global trade uncertainties and geopolitical tensions, we continue to deliver strong results through operational efficiencies and prudent resource management. Our retail network expansion likewise continues as planned, reinforcing our commitment to support an energy-secure Malaysia through our reliable supply of high-quality fuel products while advancing our sustainability initiatives,” said PMRMB Chairman Ramon S. Ang.

Petron’s community engagement efforts remain strong as it held its Jelajah Aspirasi Malaysia for Hari Merdeka and Hari Malaysia in collaboration with RTM for the second consecutive year. This reflects Petron’s commitment to sustainability, encompassing education, disaster relief, infrastructure enhancement, support for local businesses and tourism, as well as programs empowering children with special needs. The Company also further advanced its green initiatives by planting mangrove trees, installing rainwater harvesting systems, and equipping rural schools with solar-powered lighting, all of which support communities and fosters environmental protection in areas where it operates.
