Petron has always been a strong advocate of nation-building. We partner with organizations and individuals in driving programs with noteworthy causes such as public safety, social development, environmental preservation, and sports excellence. In the spirit of national unity and social development through promotion of art, we embarked on Vision Petron, our inaugural National Student Art and Photography Competition in Malaysia. The competition nurtures the talent of our youth, to inspire young local talents to become instruments of change and use their talents to strengthen and promote national identity and unity. Through this competition, we engage them to expand their thoughts on relevant issues and use their artistic creativity to become catalysts for positive change and contribute toward nation-building.
In 2013, we launched Vision Petron, “Rentetan Kejayaan: A Journey of Triumphs and Milestones” as the theme of our first nationwide competition. It aims to capture one’s journeys towards successes and underscores essential values of passion, determination, and hard work. The competition ran from August 15 to September 15, 2013. It was open to all Malaysian students studying in local universities and colleges. The program received almost 200 entries from eight of the country’s top tertiary education institutions – an indication that young people are inspired not only to showcase their skills, but also to express their support to our advocacies. On October 30, 2013 we had honored and celebrated the grand prize winners and top twenty winners at the National Visual Art Gallery as we unveiled the winning masterpieces. We hope the competition will grow and be a source of inspiration for all.
In 2014, Vision Petron's second year was opened by the Chairman of National Visual Arts Gallery Malaysia, YBhg Dato' Mahadzir Lokman and Petron Malaysia Head of Retail Business, Pn Faridah Ali at the National Visual Arts Gallery Malaysia, witnessed by students from top local universities and colleges whom also participated in creative workshops and painted graffiti walls led by local leading artists.
In 2015, Vision Petron continues with the theme “Journey to Happiness” which is a reflection of the road to one's happiness. This year we added a new category - videography to encourage students expression of arts through film.
Now on its 4th year in 2016, Vision Petron captures young adults’ inner expressions of Malaysia’s beautiful natural heritages, landscapes and traditional cultures with this year’s theme, “Rediscovering Nature and Environment”.
The competition is open to all students aged between 18 – 28 years enrolled in the local public and private higher learning institutions.
Deadline for submission of entries is on August 5, 2016.
